Virus E-mail Warning!

Our campus has been receiving e-mails claiming to provide a link to updates for Windows XP and Vista.  This is a virus and if you run the linked .exe file it could severely damage your machine!

Microsoft does not send out links to updates for their operating systems or software though e-mail.  If you have received one of these messages just delete the e-mail without clicking on the provided link and you’ll be fine.  If you have clicked the link and run the installe.exe file, call the Helpdesk at 5575 for assistance.

I’m including a sanitized version of the message below so you will know what to avoid.
